GLENYS JEAN MACDONALD (née Driver) passed away at Fairmont Extendicare on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at the age of 93 years.
Glenys was born in Davidson, SK and moved at a young age to Regina. In 1949, she married Garnet Macdonald and shortly thereafter moved north to Nipawin, SK., where they raised their three boys and operated a family business for eighteen years. In 1976, they made the leap to relocate to Lethbridge, during which time Glenys worked for School District 51 and CUPE. She was active in McKillop United Church, St. Mary’s Sailing Club, her Mathesis group, and enjoyed social outings with a circle of close friends, better known as the ‘crazy eights’. Following retirement, she travelled extensively throughout Europe, Asia and Australia on several occasions.
Glenys was predeceased by her husband Garnet, son Barry, grandson Chad, brother-in-law Grant, special friend Del Collier and all nine of her siblings.
She is survived by her two sons, Bruce (Janet) and Brian, and grandchildren Carmen, Shannon and Barry as well as four great grandchildren Haydin, Karley, Hank and Sam.
Glenys ‘lived life’, treasured her family and friends, and will be greatly missed by those fortunate enough to have known her. Although she overcame adversity several times in her life, her positive outlook, infectious laugh, and compassion for others never waivered.
A special thank you is extended to the Fairmont Extendicare staff and Dr. Leam for their kindness and excellent care.
At Glenys’ request, no funeral service will be held. Burial will take place at a later date, in Nipawin, SK.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army (salvationarmy.ca) or McKillop United Church, (mckillopunited.ca)
