TERRY DANIEL MAKI, of Foremost, beloved husband of Martha Maki, passed away at the St. Michael’s Health Centre – Palliative Care Unit, on Sunday, April 30th, 2017 at the age of 72 years.
Besides his loving wife Martha of 50 years, Terry is survived by his children Kevin “Buck” (Lora) Maki, Tami (Major) Craig, his grandchildren Aric Craig, Reegin Maki, Sydney Maki and Larissa Craig.
Terry was predeceased by his parents Yud & Norma Maki and his sister Deanna Meyers.
He was born and raised in Salmon Arm, B.C. and was married on July 2nd, 1966 to Martha Eisner who Terry met at the Falkland Stampede in 1962, all on a bet. Together they have two children who were born in 1967 in Prince Rupert (Buck) & 1969 in Salmon Arm (Tami). Terry and his family started in the Shuswap Valley and moved to Northern, B.C., they returned back to the Shuswap’s before retiring in Foremost, A.B.
In Terry’s lifetime he built two houses and remodelled four. He enjoyed fishing but his true passion was golfing, this is where you could find Terry on any given day regardless of the weather. Terry has also jumped out of a perfectly good airplane, scuba dived for a number of years, white water rafted, and loved Las Vegas.
A highlight of Terry and Martha’s marriage was taking their motorhome cross-Canada from one ocean to the other, making a number of memorable stops along the way. Terry was also very well known for his great love for his dogs, so much so that his kids would joke that he loved his dogs more than them and his wife Martha always said “he would always kiss the dogs goodnight before me”.
On Terry’s 50th birthday, he was given one of the greatest surprises of his life, his son Buck walked in and handed him his first grandchild who was born just two months prior and said “Happy Birthday Dad”. Family was very important to Terry, he valued all the time that he was able to share with all of those who were closest to him. He will be missed and truly loved by all those who are left to cherish his memory.
A Celebration of Terry’s Life will be held at the TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, Foremost, AB. On Saturday, May 6th, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Mac De Waal officiating.
In lieu of flowers and in memory of Terry, donations can be made to the St. Michael’s Health Centre – 1400 9th Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J 4V5.
