September 4, 1942 – October 20, 2017
Arlene Joan McKay, beloved wife of the late Jim McKay, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, October 20, 2017 at the age of 75 years. Born on September 4, 1942, she went on to live her entire life in Lethbridge, raising a family and enjoying a long career in the communications industry. She later worked at St. Michael’s Health Centre where she developed many friendships and enjoyed interacting with the residents there.
Arlene was known for her outgoing, friendly personality and her kind and caring nature. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, sister and aunt, and her family was her greatest source of pride and joy. Being able to keep in touch with family and friends online was a favourite activity and brought her much happiness.
Arlene was vibrant, funny, consistently optimistic and repeatedly proved herself to be resilient and fiercely determined. She will be sorely missed by all that knew her.
Arlene will be lovingly remembered by her children Kathie Taylor, Judy (Dale) Chumley and Darin McKay; grandchildren Clayton and Alex Chumley and Jaydon and Shelby McKay; siblings Bob Williams, Janice (Larry) McNeill, Dianne (Dave) Pearce and their families. She also leaves behind many friends and her beloved Yorkie, Sass. She was predeceased by her husband Jim McKay in March 2014 and by her parents Bush and Gwynne Williams.
In accordance with Arlene’s wishes, a Private Family Memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada – #200, 119 – 14 Street N.W., Calgary, AB, T2N 1Z6.
