RICHARD “DICK” A. METZ, beloved husband of Olive Metz, of Coalhurst, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the age of 71 years.
Besides his loving wife, Dick is survived by his children: Melody (Dean) Switzer of Coalhurst, Rhonda (Dave) Long of Coalhurst, Roger Metz of Lethbridge, Dawn (Walter) Peppard of Grande Prairie and Yvonne (Jason) Hidegh of Calgary as well as seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his niece and nephew Trina and Tyler Caunter and a special brother John Lewis (Greta).
He was predeceased by his son Scott, niece Robin, sisters Maggie and Roseanne and two infant brothers.
Dick grew up in Redcliff and Medicine Hat before moving to the Lethbridge area. He and his soulmate, Olive, have spent the past 45 years of their lives together. The couple shared countless fond memories together and they enjoyed many rounds of golf with his brother-in-law John and his wife Greta.
Dick was a mentor and a loyal friend, and he always saw the best in people. He had the ability to tell great stories, had laugh that would fill the room, and would make time for absolutely anyone. Dick loved cars, trucks, rodeos, horses and – most of all – spending time with his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 1:00 P.M.
In memory of Dick, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, #200, 119 – 14 Street N.W., Calgary, AB, T2N 1Z6.
