It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of DEBORAH MORGAN (née Banack), who passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
Deb was born on October 31, 1950. She spent her childhood growing up on the family farm at Circle Hill, a community northwest of Vauxhall until her family moved to Lethbridge.
Deb attended the University of Lethbridge where she received her Bachelor of Education Degree. She started her teaching career with the Foremost School, then Fleetwood Bawden Elementary, Gilbert Paterson Junior High, the University of Lethbridge and finally as Vice Principal of Park Meadows Elementary. It was there that she suffered a stroke. She was devoted to her rehab and was determined to move again, which she did. She became a volunteer at Park Meadows Elementary to fulfill her dream of working with her little people. She lived independently for many years, which speaks to her resiliency.
Deb never gave up on her passion for the Edmonton Oilers and the Edmonton Eskimos (Elks). She had a love of the land, in the crops and animals. She loved it when she got to go on a drive to see how all the crops or harvest were doing.
Debbie was recently a resident of Buffalo Grace Manor in West Lethbridge. The third-floor residents would attest to her generosity in the many Chinese food dinners that she so willingly provided for all of them on her floor. She was a generous, genuine, and giving sister, aunt, and friend. She had a great sense of humour.
Debbie will be lovingly missed and remembered by her family, relatives, and many dear friends. She is survived by four brothers: Delbert (Denise), Kerry (Diane), Barry (Jolayne) and Layton (JaeJae). Deb has many nephews and nieces whom she loved and never forgot them with birthday cards or gifts, especially books.
She was predeceased by her dad Lou, her mom Della, and her brother Danny.
Deb will be remembered by the many people whose lives she touched and who were fortunate to know her. One saying she had when things got tough — “And this too will pass”.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the SANDMAN SIGNATURE LETHBRIDGE LODGE, 320 Scenic Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. with Patrick Siedlecki officiating. The service will be live-streamed and may be viewed through Deb’s obituary on the Cornerstone website.
In lieu of flowers, you may donate to Park Meadows Elementary School Library, 50 Meadowlark Blvd. North, Lethbridge, AB, TIH 4J4.
