Joey (Joseph) was born in Calgary then later, the family settled in Lethbridge. Joey was named after the song “Joey”, a hit song in the early ‘90’s by the Concrete Blondes, a favorite of his mother’s. He attended Park Meadow’s Elementary School in Lethbridge in his early years. Joey’s father, Gordon, owned a construction company where Joey would learn to frame and learn all aspects of construction including reading and drawing up blueprints. He was exceptionally good at it and would hold various positions with other companies after his dad sold the business. He was dedicated and worked hard at his jobs.
Joey also attended Red Crow College, where he took business administration. He was halfway through the course, took a break and had reregistered in hopes to complete the program. Joey had a passion for fashion and top name brands. He loved to sew and design, especially caps, and thought he would like a career in fashion design someday. Maybe do some modeling himself. He was very talented.
Joey was also an incredibly talented writer of spiritual writings of thoughts and always had his bible nearby. When given the chance he liked learning to cook, writing down recipes so he would not forget.
As a young child, he would run around the house saying “Doh!” (Homer Simpson). He was like a little gangster baby; whether he did something right or something mischievous, his reply would be “Doh!”.
His school years he had fun hanging out with his friends and sometimes getting in trouble. Joey tried his hand at sports but was more interested in the cheerleaders! He was a gentle soul, with a kind heart, always joking around. He loved to laugh and make others laugh. We all wondering what was behind that quirky big smile of his. Tall and very good looking, a bubbly yet shy personality, he was sure to win over the ladies! And he did! Especially when he tried rapping for them!
Joey always watched out for those he loved and cared about, especially his “Brothers.” Each one of us have so many of our own special memories and times had with you Joey. You will be deeply missed. Now in the arms of your mom and dad, Denise, Gordon, and Joey together as one. Forever loved, forever missed. May you rest in Peace.
