It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of KIERAN “KIWI SHARISSE PLAIN EAGLE (WHITE QUILLS) “Apaa’kii” (White Weasel Woman) on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at the age of 20 years. Kieran was born in Lethbridge, AB to her loving parents Lorilee White Quills and Jason Plain Eagle.
Kieran is survived by her precious babies “M&M’s” – Mya & Maverick, and her loving partner Tye Day Chief, her siblings – Linnea and Kaydence White Quills, and Rylan Twigg; nieces and nephews Jordyn, Delonte, Kyrie, Maizie and Silver White Quills; grandparents Vivian White Quills, Audrey Plain Eagle, and Darryl (Mary) Little Bear; aunts & uncles – Delaine, DJ, and Deidre White Quills, Maya Little Bear, Tana Knife and Tyra Knife-Twigg, Waylon Bruised Head, Cory White Quills, and Steve Frank; special auntie Charlotte Heavy Runner; special sister/cousin – Raegan White Quills, Taylor and Kaleb Frank; great-aunts & uncles – Peggy, Vera, Eugene “Boyce” (Lucille) White Quills, Tammy (Ed) Knife, Kirk Sr (Lorna) White Quills, Sandra (Barney) Day Chief, Shawn and Donald Little Bear, and the Little Mustache/Plain Eagle families.
Kieran was a special girl, doted on not only by her parents, but by her grandma Vivian White Quills and aunts and uncles. Kieran was given the nick name Kiwi by her great-aunt Tammy, who had trouble pronouncing her name. The name stuck and she was affectionately known to all as “Kiwi.”
Kieran was raised in Fort Macleod with her parents and in later years in Calgary with her mother and siblings, she later split her time between Piikani, Kainai – Fort Whoop-up area, and Lethbridge. She made her home in Lethbridge, having her first home with her husband Tye. Kieran continued her education, graduating from Victoria Park School while pregnant with Mya. Her beautiful daughter Mya was born in August 2021 and precious baby Maverick in August 2022. She referred to them as her M&M’s. She embraced motherhood and was amazed with the beautiful lives that she created. Kieran often spent time with her auntie Delaine and family. She shared a special bond with her sister/cousin Raegan, they were stuck at the hip from the moment Kieran was born and they grew up together and made some really special memories that will forever be cherished.
Kieran enjoyed keeping active and she was a Fancy and Jingle Dress Dancer. She enjoyed sports, such as basketball and volleyball, horseback riding, and spending time with her loved ones – family and friends. Kieran had a special bond with all her family members, and especially with her grandma Vivian, who supported her in all her endeavors, such as her first competition dance. They were both so proud when she accomplished one of her goals. They traveled together and shared intimate moments and jokes. Grandma often teased her and shared so many loving times and laughter that brought tears to their eyes. These memories will be lovingly cherished by grandma Viv. She spent some time living with her auntie DJ, and Jordyn. Of course, DJ and Kieran would have little disagreements, but in the end, they laughed at how serious each other took it, poking fun with each other. After the birth of Maverick, auntie DJ and grandma Lorilee were there to help Kieran daily with the precious babies, and she was so thankful to be able to count on Auntie and Grandma for everything. Tye is a good father and made sure he gave Kieran some respite time and shared loving moments with his children while visiting grandma Vicki Day Chief. Kieran had a special auntie, Charlotte was always there to help Kieran with her household and the babies, whom she loved so much. Charlotte would clean Kieran’s house, sometimes spending a few days and help Kieran with the babies when she needed some time to herself.
Kieran was predeceased by: great-grandma Olive “Paakaakii” White Quills, great-uncle Robert White Quills, grandpa Nelbert Little Mustache, great-grandmother Margaret Plain Eagle, nephew Kingsley Shouting (White Quills), Dion Long Time Squirrel, cousin Michael Eagle Bear.
