MARLENE BEVERLY PLEWES, beloved wife of the late Arthur Plewes, passed away peacefully at the St. Michael’s Health Centre – Palliative Care Unit on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at the age of 84 years.
Marlene is lovingly remembered by her son, Darcy (Bonnie) Plewes of Lethbridge, her grandchildren, Brandon & Sue Ann Plewes, her brothers, Wayne Chute of Lethbridge and Gary Chute of Lethbridge, her brother-in-law, George (Norma) Plewes of Bermuda and her sister-in-law, Alice Eichhorn of Saskatoon, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Arthur James Plewes, her parents, Burton & Dorothy Chute and her parents-in-law, Howard & Rita Plewes.
Marlene was born in Lethbridge on April 3, 1935. She attended Henderson College of Business in Lethbridge, where she met Arthur—the love of her life. The two were married on June 17, 1968 and soon after they were blessed with their only child, Darcy. Once she finished college, Marlene worked for various provincial and federal government departments.
Marlene loved to travel with her family to various places throughout Canada and the USA. She always loved to camp in Glacier National Park and Flathead Valley. She spent many hours enjoying nature by going for hikes, taking nature shots and picking huckleberries. Her last trip was with her two brothers when they visited Mexico and the California Coast.
She cherished every moment she shared with her two grandchildren, whether they were here in Lethbridge or traveling together elsewhere.
Marlene enjoyed spending time with her church family and friends. She was an active member of The Seventh Day Adventist Church. She liked singing with the church choir—and occasionally sang a few solos.
A Celebration of Marlene’s Life will be held at THE SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH, 2606 – 16 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor James Wesley officiating.
Interment to follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
