John was born on October 1, 1929 at the Lethbridge Hospital to Anton and Eliza Schoen. John worked two winters in Calgary, AB where he met and later married the love of his life Evelyn. They were married over 64 years until Evelyn’s passing.
John farmed near Warner, custom hauled grain through the 1970s, owned and operated a school bus for close to 20 years. He was a longtime member of the Lion’s Club where one of his projects was co-creating the Village of Warner Lions RV Park. John loved the outdoors. They later shared this love of the mountains in Waterton and Glacier National Park, MT with their son and grandchildren. For many years, John and Evelyn enjoyed spending some of their winters in California and later Arizona. While there, they always welcomed a visit from their son and grandchildren to share a bit of the snowbird life. John took his family on tours of Utah and Arizona, sharing the places he and Evelyn had explored and enjoyed.
John will be deeply missed by his son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
