It is with great sadness we announce the passing of JERMAIN ANTHONY SOENEN, less than ten months after the passing of his beloved wife of 67 years, Johanna Hendrica Soenen (nee Van Buuren).
Jermain was born March 18, 1928 in Middleton Township, Norfolk Co., Ontario to Irene & Joseph Soenen. Both his parents passed along with 10 of his siblings, Marie, Fred, Ed, Charlie, Joe, Margaret, Delphine, Leo, Omar & Achiel. He is survived only by his sister, Augusta Schaffer, and sisters-in-law Roberta, Donna, Georgette, Shirley & Helen Soenen, Louisa, Maria & Dorothy Van Buuren. Numerous nieces & nephews are going to miss him greatly, remembering all the help and funny pranks and mischiefs instigated. Uncle was the biggest kid of us all, and we were blessed to have him and Auntie invite all to their farm for many, many get-togethers.
Uncle Jermain drove truck for the beginning of his career, then moved on to farming, mechanics, carpentry and jack-of-all trades until his retirement.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. BASIL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604 – 13 Street North, Lethbridge, on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 10:00 A.M., with Father Albert Sayson celebrating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
In memory of Jermain, donations may be made to the Good Samaritan Society (Park Meadow’s North Lethbridge), 1511 – 15 Avenue North, Lethbridge, AB, T1H 1W2.
