It is with heavy hearts and also with thanks for a long and healthy life, that the family of BLANCHE DELIA STUCKART, announce her passing at the age of 98 years.
She is survived by her children: Heather (Bernie) Schmid of Warner, John (Wendy) Stuckart of Kingston, ON, Linda Storms of Calgary, AB and daughter-in-law Karenne Stuckart of Barnwell. Her memory will also be cherished by her 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, along with special cherished friends Marguerite and Lorne Cooley of Pincher Creek.
Blanche was predeceased by her husband Albert Stuckart, son Jim Stuckart, son-in-law Doug Storms and brother Gerald (Mary) Plante.
Blanche was raised on the land that the Assumption Church now stands on, where her parents homesteaded. Born and raised in Lethbridge as a young girl, mom delivered newspapers on horseback. She worked at the YMCA where she met Dad and together they worked side-by-side founding the Lethbridge Battery Company, which they operated for 20 years. Driving mom around Lethbridge, she would fondly recall precious memories and incredible history about her early days. She was an exceptional seamstress who made her own clothes, created beautiful quilts and many of her friends and family were recipients of her unique bone pillows. Mom spent a great deal of time in the kitchen, she truly enjoyed to bake and cook for those she loved. Her secret recipes have been handed down throughout the generations of her family, solidifying the legacy she has left behind.
Mom and Dad supported Jr. Hockey by taking in hockey boarders over the years. She also spent a great deal of time working at Catholic Central High School. This is where you would find that her calming and compassionate spirit was truly felt as she never once complained and always had an ear for listening. She accomplished many things in her life but the most important of them all was being a mother, her family brought great joy and meaning to her life.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all the caregivers and staff of the Garden View Lodge, making Mom’s stay there a happy one. Thank you to Dr. Janzen for your exceptional care.
Blanche was a religious woman, being a long-standing member of the C.W.L. and Catholic Church, and as such a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH – 2405 12th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. with Father Kevin Tumback, Celebrant.
In lieu of flowers and in memory of Blanche, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
