Following a shockingly brief battle with cancer, RICHARD “RICK” ICHIRO TANAKA passed away peacefully in the company of family on Monday, January 18, 2016 at the age of 66 years. Richard lived in Lethbridge for most of his life and worked for the roofing department of Charlton & Hill for 40 years. After retiring, he kept busy with his roof inspection business as well as his many interests: trips to Vegas with the guys, time spent with his coffee crews, golfing, charitable work or following his love of racing and soccer. Though very humble, his generosity touched family, friends and numerous charitable organizations.
Richard is survived by his wife Marlene, sons Craig and Chris (Kristina), step-son Chris (Mandi), step-daughter Leah (Karl), grandchildren Chayse, Eden, Malachai, Bailey, Eva, Eli, Morgan, Grace and Mak as well as his brother Gordon and sisters Elaine and Pat, mother-in-law Hahn Stowell and brother-in-law, Randy (Gloria) Stowell. Richard was predeceased by his first wife Rena, father Hiroshi, and mother Akiko.
The family would like to thank the health care team for their caring support, especially Doctors Ireland and Low.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Sunday, January 24, 2016 from 8:00 to 9:30 P.M.
