It is with broken hearts and great sadness we announce the passing of DAN CORDELL WEASEL MOCCASIN from a lengthy illness at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary on Monday, March 14th, 2016 at the age of 70 years.
Cordell is survived by his wife, best friend and loving partner of 15 years, Rosaline Weasel Moccasin (nee Black Plume); his sons:Wildon (Shauna), John (Kirsty) and Josh (Giselle); daughters: Trina (Clayton), Leanne (Charles), Betty-Jo (Dale), Corrie-Ann (Monte), Kristy (Bryon), Marcella (Tom) and Jaqi (Ronnie Jr.); three special boys that were so dear to him: Jerome Blood, Quaydon and Lane Tallow, as well as 32 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Dan is also lovingly remembered by his sisters: Alva (Patrick), Greta (Raymond) and Jackie (Mike Bromley); brothers: Stewart (Marion), Andrew Sr.; his aunties: Rose Marie Tail Feathers, Teresa Plume and Mary Twigg; his uncles: Donald Big Swallow and Andrew Twigg; as well as many nieces and nephews. Also left to mourn his passing are his adopted children: Jay Scout, Jodi Provost, Heather Fox, Stephen Fox, Lyle Fox, Heather Black Water, Radford Healy, Vanessa Brave Rock, Andrea Jerry, Mike Many Grey Horses, Kathy and Deidrie Little Leaf and his “look alike” brother, KittWitford.
He was predeceased by his parents Dan and Ada Weasel Moccasin, grandparents Emil and Maggie Wings, Uncle Emil Wings Jr. aunties Ruth Wings and Beatrice Big Swallow, sisters Eleanor Delaney, Joanne Cross Child, Martina Blood and Julianna Weasel Moccasin, brother Daniel Weasel Moccasin and granddaughter Daffney Weasel Moccasin.
Dan was an excellent provider as a husband and father. He had many talents and worked at a variety of businesses; a farm near Magrath, the Plywood Factory in Fort Macleod, at Kainai Industries, then retired after 21 years with the Blood Tribe Dept. of Health. He loved and cherished his music; Country, Pow-Wow and Round Dance. He would crank his stereo, whether it was at home or in his vehicle and made them rock with the vibrations. DJ’ing became his hobby which led him to become known as “The Wolf Man”. He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.
A Wake Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB., on Friday, March 18th, 2016 from 6:00 P.M. – 10:00 P.M.
A Funeral Service will be held at OLD AGENCY HALL, Blood Reserve, AB., on Saturday, March 19th, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. followed by the Interment at One Spot Cemetery, Blood Reserve, AB.
