Galt Museum and Archive receives national recognition

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Galt Museum and Archives (GMA) was recognized by the Canadian Museums Association (CMA) during the 2022 CMA Awards on June 30, 2022.

Although the GMA didn’t win outright in any category, it was given an honourable mention in the “Social Impact” category.

The exhibit that resulted in the GMA receiveing the honourable mention, was “Voices of the Land”. In a release by the CMA, it states that the GMA made a notable effort towards reimagining the role of a museum as keepers of knowledge.

“Voices of the Land, is a skillfully produced addition to its collection,” the CMA noted in the release.

In all, there were nine categories that were highlighted during the 2022 CMA Awards including,

  • Exhibitions
  • Audience Outreach
  • Social Impact
  • Research
  • Stewardship of Collections
  • Distinguished Service
  • Volunteer Award: Group
  • Volunteer Award: Individual
  • President’s Award
