Alphonso Davies scores for Canada’s under-17 squad in friendly win over Jamaica

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Alphonso Davies scored as Canada’s under-17 men’s team shut out Jamaica 3-0 on Sunday in an international friendly.

Davies, who just finished his first professional season with Major League Soccer’s Vancouver Whitecaps, extended Canada’s lead to 2-0 in the 37th minute.

Jordan Faria opened the scoring in the 15th minute and Yohan Le Bourhis added another in the 47th for the Canadians.

Canada is preparing for next year’s CONCACAF men’s under-17 championship in Panama, which runs from April 21 to May 7. The top four nations from the 12-team tournament qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in India which starts in October 2017.
