Fentanyl overdoses continue to plague Blood Tribe
STANDOFF – Blood Tribe Police are laying bare the problem of opioid and fentanyl abuse on the reserve and painting the picture by numbers.
During the month of November alone, Blood Tribe officers dealt with seven overdoses related to opioids (fentanyl). Four of those cases were reported on a single day – Monday, November 28. Fortunately, medical intervention was able to save the lives of all the victims. The month of November also saw Blood Tribe police called to 25 cases of drug related activity. A number of the cases are still under investigation and several people face drug related charges.
The Blood Tribe Police Service would like to remind the public about the dangers of opioid (fentanyl) use and the potential for addiction and possible death.
