SAN FRANCISCO — Information has emerged about an apparent close call involving an Air Canada flight at San Francisco International Airport the night of Friday, July 7.

According to multiple media reports, the U.S. Federal Aviation Authority confirms that an Air Canada flight from Toronto was about to land in San Francisco when the tower became aware that the pilots had accidentally lined up to land on a taxiway.

Four planes loaded with fuel and passengers were reportedly waiting to take off as the Air Canada jet approached.

Air traffic controllers ordered the Airbus A320 pilots to pull up and go around.

They did and the aircraft landed safely.

The FAA is now investigating how close the Air Canada plane got to the planes on the taxiway.
