
Wheat Kings bring halt to Hurricanes win streak
LETHBRIDGE – The Hurricanes hoped to add to their recent win streak at the Enmax Centre Friday night, but the Brandon Wheat kings put a halt to the wins at four games, taking a 5-1 win.
The first period got off to a fast pace, but remained scoreless at the midway point. However, with less than six minutes remaining in the period, the Wheaties took control and the game went downhill for the Canes.
At 14:11, Brandon’s Evan Weinger put his team on the board with a short-handed goal. Less than a minute later, Weinger repeated the performance, with a second short-handed goal on a breakaway,
Brandon wasn’t finished with the goals. With less than a minute and a half remaining in the first, Ty Lewis got a third puck past Stuart Skinner, and the first period closed with the Wheat Kings ahead 3-0.
