Special weather statement warns of rain, freezing rain, snow
LETHBRIDGE – Officially it’s still winter, and we’re about to get a reminder of that.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for essentially all of southern and central Alberta, from the U.S. border all the way to the Edmonton region. It warns of a mix of rain, freezing rain, and snow for Thursday, Mar. 15 and Friday, Mar. 16.
“At this time, there is still uncertainty as to where the highest amounts of precipitation will fall,” the statement reads. “It is likely that travel will be impacted along portions of the Trans-Canada Highway and the QE2 Highway.”
The forecast for Lethbridge indicates a possibility of 5-10 cm of snow Thursday, after a period of rain and potentially freezing rain earlier in the day. By Friday indications are for a chance of flurries, but with more periods of snow possible on Saturday.
