Noah, Olivia top Alberta baby names in 2017

EDMONTON — For the first time since 2010, “Liam” was not the most popular name for baby boys in Alberta last year.

“Noah” now tops the list according to a release from the province on Tuesday. The name was given to 250 babies in Alberta in 2017.

Liam remains high on the list as it was bumped only to number two. The name was given to 244 Alberta babies last year.

Top 10 boy names in Alberta in 2017: Noah, Liam, Benjamin, Logan, Lucas, William, Ethan, Oliver, Jack, Jacob.

“Olivia” took over top spot on the list of girls names (236 babies).

The full list can be seen at the Service Alberta website. The list is compiled from the Registration of Live Birth forms completed by parents and processed by the department.
