Two people charged in west Lethbridge shooting

LETHBRIDGE, AB – In an update to a story LNN covered about a shooting on the 400 block of Columbia Blvd. West Monday morning, Lethbridge Police Service have provided a few key updates.

Namely, two people have been charged in relation to the incident.

Jarret Bruce Healy, 29, of Lethbridge, has been charged with 15 offenses including possession of an unauthorized firearm, pointing a firearm, careless use of a firearm, and discharging a firearm with intent to endanger life.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, October 28th.

Healy has also been charged with aggravated assault in connection to an unrelated incident on September 11th where a 31-year-old man was found unconscious at the intersection of Mildred Dobbs Blvd and Lettice Perry Road North.

Kristylyn Nicole Healy, 32, of Lethbridge, has been charged with breaching probation and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

Healy will also stay in custody and is set to appear in court on Wednesday, October 23rd.

According to police, a 30-year-old man was in his backyard on Columbia Boulevard West just before 8:00 am on Monday when a man in a white GMC Yukon approached him in the alley. After the suspect allegedly pointed a gun at him, the man ran away and heard a gunshot.

It turns out now, however, that Sgt. Bruce Hagel says shots were fired at more than just the one location.

“As the investigation unfolded it was determined that in addition to the scene in the 400 block Columbia Blvd where a shot was fired, shots were also fired at a home on Dalhousie Court W and 2 bullet casings were recovered. Police also believe that after leaving the west side, the Yukon drove to the north end where shots were also fired at an undetermined location.”

The vehicle was found in the Bay parking lot and was later found to have been stolen.

A handgun was found inside.

A second man was apprehended after being dropped off at his home on the north side later in the day. Police claim that a second gun with ammunition that matched the bullet casing found on the west side was in the man’s bag.
