LETHBRIDGE, AB – By this weekend, Whoop-Up Drive will be construction-less.

The City says crews are expected to finish up bridge coating along Whoop-Up by the end of this week.

Contractors will reduce westbound Whoop-Up Drive to one lane starting at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24 to remove the construction barriers. During the evening of Friday, Oct. 25 eastbound traffic will be reduced to one lane to remove the barriers.

The closures will be in effect from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. in order to minimize impact to traffic.

Whoop-Up Drive will be fully open in both directions the morning of Saturday, Oct. 26.

Crews took on the project to protect the bridge and maintain safe conditions for motorists and pedestrians. Work began in the spring and the City says it’s being completed on time, even with snowfall a few weeks ago.

The City is thanking motorists for their patience and understanding during the work period.

Throughout the process, one eastbound lane and one westbound lane remained closed for the safety of workers and motorists.
