Paradise Canyon to host Mackenzie Tour event for third straight year

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Details on the Paradise Canyon Open have been revealed in Lethbridge.

After two successful years of tournaments, the PGA Tour and Mackenzie Tour will be coming to the golf course to hold the tournament.

This year, there will be many different qualifying events to add to the tournament’s schedule.

Some of the events include the Picture Butte qualifier, a “Million dollar shootout”, and a Junior Qualifier which are all chances to play in the tournament without a tour card.

For the Picture Butte qualifier, young and talented golfers are going to be playing to get into the Paradise Canyon Open. Yes, you would have to qualify for that tournament through the Mackenzie Tour, but it’s a chance at making a professional tournament.

The “Million dollar shootout” is new to the Mackenzie Tour, with the idea to create more competition within the Open.

The concept, is that on any given day on a Southern Alberta golf course, the club will offer you a chance to get closest to the pin for 20 dollars in a chance to qualify for a tournament taking place right before the Open.

They will take the top 25 closest to the pins and each of them will play off to shoot on a par 3 and if anyone makes a hole in one, they win One Million Dollars.

Local junior players can qualify for the tournament through their golf club. After being nominated, the field will tee off and the player that scores the best through the one day of 18 holes, will get to play in the Paradise Canyon Open as an amateur.
