LETHBRIDGE, AB – “It’s been the number one item on my bucket list for a very, very, very long time.”

Sharon Lawson was in Los Angeles in February for a taping of an episode of Jeopardy, which is scheduled to air April 22.

Although she is contractually obligated to not share the results of the game show, she told LNN that it was the experience of a lifetime.

“It was surreal and mind-blowing. I’ve been a fan of Jeopardy for years ever since it came back on the air in 1984. I can’t remember ever not watching it. To be on that stage, standing at that podium, chatting with Alex Trebek was absolutely mind-blowing.”

Lawson has a Bachelor of Education from the University of Lethbridge and an Administrative Assistant Diploma from Lethbridge College. She currently works in administrative support in the U of L’s Dean’s Office.

After a tryout, she was called on January 27 and “fell out of my chair” when she heard that she was going to appear on the show after years of trying.

In preparation, she did as much reading as she could on different topics, watched a lot of Jeopardy, and used a pen as a clicker to practice the timing of her button presses.

Following the taping, Trebek briefly spoke with Lawson and the other contestants. She admitted to feeling a little star-struck.

The episode of Jeopardy featuring Lawson is set to air at 6:00 pm MST on Wednesday, April 22.
