LPS arrest city couple after seizing drugs, weapons and stolen property

LETHBRIDGE, AB — The seizure of weapons, drugs and stolen property from a north side home has resulted in charges against a Lethbridge couple.

Last month, police received numerous complaints from concerned citizens about drug trafficking activity at a home along the 1700 block of 2 A Avenue North.

The Crime Suppression Team conducted an investigation which lead to a search warrant being executed on March on Wednesday (Mar 4).

A male occupant was arrested and a search of the home resulted in the seizure of a small quantity of methamphetamine and carfentanil, as well as a rifle hidden under a mattress, knives, pellet guns, bear spray and ammunition, along with a stolen Suzuki motorcycle, various tools and identity documents.

The female occupant was not home at the time of the warrant, but later turned herself in and a four-year-old child, who resides in the home, was turned over to the care of a relative.

A 46-year-old man faces 22 charges, including possession of a firearm obtained by the commission of an offence, knowingly possess an unauthorized firearm, careless storage of a firearm, three counts of possession of stolen property, four counts of possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a stolen cred card, possession of the proceeds of crime, eight counts of failing to comply with a release order, possession for the purpose of trafficking and causing a child to be drug-endangered. He was remanded in custody to appear in court March 12.

A 38-year-old woman is charged with causing a child to be drug endangered and was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 2.

The names of the couple will not be released, in order to protect the identity of the child.
