Four new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in South Health Zone

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta has released its latest set of numbers for COVID-19 in the province.

An additional 50 cases were confirmed Wednesday, bringing the total up to 1,423.

Three more deaths related to the virus have been announced, all three of which are in the Calgary Health Zone. This means that 29 Albertans have died to date.

The breakdown by health region is as follows:

  • Calgary zone – 860 cases (20 deaths, 3 new)
    • 27,550 tests
  • Edmonton zone – 368 cases (four deaths)
    • 22,673 tests
  • North zone – 95 cases (four deaths)
    • 5,612 tests
  • Central zone – 72 cases (one death)
    • 6,399 tests
  • South zone – 26 cases
    • 3,370 tests
  • Unknown – two cases
    • 1,179 tests

The number of infections in the South Health Zone has increased by four from Tuesday’s report.

The breakdown for the region is:

  • Medicine Hat – 10 cases, four recovered
  • Lethbridge – 9 cases (two new), five recovered
  • M.D. of Taber – two cases, two recovered
  • County of Forty Mile – two cases
  • Cypress County – two cases (one new)
  • City of Brooks – one case (one new)
