Lethbridge Paradise Canyon Open golf tournament postponed

LETHBRIDGE, AB – It’s sad news for golf fans in Canada, including in southern Alberta.

The first six events of the Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada have been postponed due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This includes the Lethbridge Paradise Canyon Open, which was scheduled for June 25 to 28, 2020.

Other tournaments affected by the decision include:

· The Canada Life Open in Vancouver (originally scheduled for May 28-31)

· The DCBank Open presented by Times Colonist in Victoria (June 4-7)

· The GolfBC Championship in Kelowna (June 11-14)

· The Prince Edward Island Pro-Am in Cardigan (July 2-5)

· The Osprey Valley Open in Caledon, Ontario (July 9-12)

The Mackenzie Tour is expected to make more announcements in the next few weeks, regarding tournaments and qualifying sites.

PGA TOUR

The RBC Canadian Open, organized by Golf Canada and the PGA Tour, has been cancelled because of the global health crisis.

The event was slated to start on June 11 at St. George’s Golf and Country Club in Toronto, Ontario.

The Open was first contested in 1904 and is the third oldest continuously running tournament on the PGA Tour, behind the British Open and the U.S. Open.

This is the first time the tournament has been cancelled since 1944. St. George’s has hosted the event five times, most recently in 2010. The Open is scheduled to return to the course in 2024.

The PGA Tour announced a bevvy of other adjustments, including the rescheduling of 14 events as part of the 2019-2020 season.
