City man charged with drug trafficking offences

LETHBRIDGE, AB. — A 49-year-old man is facing drug trafficking offences, after methamphetamine, cocaine and carfentanil were seized following a report of a suspicious vehicle.

Around 7:04 Saturday (April 25) morning, patrol members responded to a suspicious vehicle along the 1900 block of 23 Street North, on a report of a man seen asleep behind the wheel, with the engine revving.

Two police vehicles were used to pin the suspect vehicle in place to prevent it from leaving and the driver subsequently awoke and exited without incident.

The man was taken into custody and during a search, police seized methamphetamine, cocaine and carfentanil along with an airsoft revolver and several knives.

Street value of the drugs is estimated at just over $8,000.

Jason Anthony Morin, is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of breaching a release order, two counts of breach of probation and one count of impaired driving.

Morin was released from custody and is to appear in court August 12.
