City woman facing arson and drug charges

LETHBRIDGE, AB. — A 27-year old Lethbridge woman has been charged with arson, in relation to damages at a downtown business.

During the early morning hours on Wednesday, May 13, police were called to an arson at the Umami Shop, in 800 block of 4 Avenue South.

It’s alleged that wood pallets and cardboard that was piled up against the building, was lit on fire. The Lethbridge Fire Department extinguished the fire, which caused damage to the store and overhead Telus lines.

Total damage is about $6,000.

Video surveillance helped police identify the female suspect, who was located and arrested Thursday morning.

Mary-Lee Roy Parks, is charged with arson, possession of a controlled substance (meth seized incidental to arrest) and breach of an undertaking.

She is currently in custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
