Galt Museum announces limited reopening June 2

May 21, 2020 | 10:42 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – In just a couple of week’s time, the Galt Museum & Archives in Lethbridge will allow a limited number of guests in.

“We are excited to open our doors to the public again, but the safety of our staff and visitors is our primary concern,” says CEO and Executive Director Darrin Martens. “Our team has been carefully planning how to ensure that our facility is as safe as possible.”

In order to limit the physical exchange of money, people are asked to purchase tickets for admission on the Galt’s website in advance.

Only 50 people will be allowed inside the museum at one time and visitors will be asked to maintain proper physical distancing at all times.

“We know that many of our annual pass holders are in age groups that are more vulnerable to COVID-19,” says Martens. “Inviting them to book their visit earlier in the day and with a smaller group is one way we can help them stay healthy and safe.”

There will be shorter hours spanning from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm Tuesdays-Saturdays and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sundays.

Officials say the reduced hours will allow staff to clean and disinfect surfaces more thoroughly.

The coat rack and lockers will be closed for the time being.

The Galt has been closed since March 15.
