City of Lethbridge looking for suggestions on street design changes

Jul 6, 2020 | 5:05 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB– The city announced via Facebook the proposed street design changes to 13 Street N between 26 Avenue N and 16 Ave S, 16 Ave S between 13 Street S and Scenic Drive S, and 5th Ave N between Stafford Drive and 23rd Street N.

Helping the city decide on which designs to go with can really change the look on Lethbridge.

The city announced these corridors have been selected for the following reasons:

  1. 5 Avenue N and 13 Street are important corridors connecting residential areas in north Lethbridge with downtown, the hospital and Hwy 3.
  2. Traffic is increasing on 5 Avenue N and 13 Street. As a result, the City anticipates the infrastructure upgrades will be required to improve safety, accessibility and vibrancy.
  3. The City of Lethbridge’s Cycling Master Plan identifies 13 Street, from 26 Avenue N to 16 Avenue S and 5 Avenue N, from Stafford Drive N to 43 Street N as important protected bike lane connections within the City’s bicycle network.
  4. 16 Avenue S between 13 Street S and Scenic Drive S is a short section of roadway with many conflict points.

To say your input, take the survey on the city’s website to add what you’d like to see to 5 Ave N and 13 Street.
