LETHBRIDGE, AB – The U of L Pronghorns have made a change to their soccer program.

Coaches Jack Reddy and Ilsa Wong have been relieved of their duties, Pronghorn Athletics announced on Friday, Sept. 18.

The women’s soccer program recently was suspended due to a breach of COVID-19 sport cohort protocols.

Pronghorn Athletics said the decision to relieve Reddy and Wong of their duties was a difficult one to make given their contributions to the team, it was in the best interests of the program moving forward.

“Prior to the halt in team activities, Pronghorn athletes had been adhering to all the guidelines laid out by Pronghorn Athletics and Alberta Health Services,” read a statement from the program.

“During the interruption of training, none of the student-athletes developed symptoms or tested positive for COVID-19. The players are now eligible to return to training.”

Pronghorn Athletics is in the process of finding an interim coach and plans to conduct a “comprehensive search” for the next head coach of the women’s soccer program in the near future.
