LETHBRIDGE, AB– After being allocated $1.8 million from the 2018-2027 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) cycle, upgrades on the Lethbridge Fish and Game facilities are going smoothly.

Construction on safety enhancements at the Shooting Sports Facility operated by the Lethbridge Fish and Game Association started this week.

So far, construction is on its way to make the shooting facility a more year-round facility for everyone to use.

The range will be much safer than before too, and President Allan Friesen says some shells from guns have previously left the range, which is unacceptable.

With over 2000 members of the association, safety is a must.

“We drill all our members on safe firearm practices and using the range in a safe way and they comply, every once in a while someone makes a mistake, that can happen.”

“This place really is about changing fear into fun, that’s what it’s really all about.” Says Friesen.

As for the timeline of when the new upgrades and safety renovations will be done, that is still up in the air.

With the renovations, Friesen says the shooting range will be one of the most innovative and creative in Canada.
