Claresholm RCMP traffic stop results in drug arrest

CLARESHOLM, AB– In the town of Claresholm, RCMP initiated a traffic stop on two individuals which lead to criminal charges.

On December 23, 2020, at 11:30 PM, Claresholm RCMP arrested Robert Thibeault,41, and Kassanda Villneff, 27, resulting in six charges.

In the traffic stop, 143 grams of methamphetamine were seized, including 39 grams of cocaine and 15 grams of fentanyl with a total street value of approximately $7,500.

Charges include unlawfully possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a weapon, and failure to comply with an undertaking.

Villneff is facing an additional charge of failure to comply with an undertaking.

Thibeault and Villneff were released and will appear in court on Jan. 21, 2021, in Fort Macleod.
