EDMONTON, AB. Alberta Health Services has released its update on COVID-19 for Tuesday, covering statistics compiled over the past 24 hours.

263 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 129,338. Of those, 4,993 cases are active while 122,544 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, 36 people tested positive with the majority coming from Lethbridge’s 24.

To date, 1,791 Albertans have died from COVID with another nine since yesterday’s update.

Provincially, 365 patients are currently hospitalized including 56 who have been admitted to intensive care.

With another 5,216 tests completed over the past day, there has now been a total of 3,313,593 tests conducted on 1,792,839 different people.

149,138 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered so far in Alberta. Approximately 54,000 people have received the recommended two doses.

Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw stated during Tuesday’s press conference that many people had been confused about capacity limits in restaurants since the newly-eased restrictions made no mention of it.

“Unlike other public settings like retail stores, we have not implemented specific capacity limits on restaurants, bars, and lounges.”

“Instead, we have limited capacity by putting into place physical distancing protocols that require a minimum of two metres spacing between tables and dining parties. In addition, we have limited the number of people who can be seated at the same table to a maximum of six and these must be members of the same household.”
