Medicine Hat Walmart put under lockdown Monday after firearm threat

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat police says the city’s Walmart was placed under lockdown following a firearm threat directed at a specific employee on Monday evening.

Police say the store was under lockdown for about an hour beginning around 9:15 p.m.

According to police, the unknown caller made comments about attending the store to confront the employee.

Police secured the business to protect the employees and customers in the store and in the immediate area.

People were escorted off the premises once police deemed it safe.
