Lethbridge School Division confirms second case of COVID at LCI

Mar 12, 2021 | 10:12 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge School Division has reported a second case of COVID-19 at Lethbridge Collegiate Institute.

As a result, the Medical Officer of Health has started an investigation.

Public Health staff are working to determine who may have been exposed at the school during the infectious period. Close contacts will be notified by email and instructed to quarantine for at least 14 days.

The division says the risk to the general population in the school of becoming infected is low.

Public Health has also provided recommendations to the school about cleaning measures and other control measures to reduce the risk of further transmission.

If a parent/guardian is not contacted, then their child is not a close contact and can attend school as usual, following all public health guidelines.

The division could not report whether the new case affected a staff member or student.

The school schedule at LCI will proceed as normal for Monday, March 15.
