Pronghorns Basketball launching spring academies

LETHBRIDGE, AB– With the easing of provincial health and safety restrictions across Alberta, both the Pronghorn women’s and men’s basketball programs are able to host spring academies for U15 and U17 age groups.

Many young ballers will be able to play again after high school seasons were cancelled due to the pandemic.

The Pronghorns are stepping up to help continue young southern Albertan athletes’ development and look to extend its expertise to the local basketball players.

The varsity coaching staff of the ‘Horns will have sessions twice a week, for a total of 20 sessions, and focus on individual skill development and high-performance training.

Female programs will start March 29th and wrap up June 9th.

Male programs will start the next day (March 30th) and end June 10th.

Each age group is currently restricted to two groups of nine athletes to maintain physical distancing. Registration opens up Monday, March 15th at 7:00 am.

The following are the requirements and additional information.

Women’s Basketball:

Age: U15 & U17

Days: Monday and Wednesday

Time: 5:30 to 6:30/ 6:30 to 8:00 – will include a high-performance training session every 2 weeks

Cost: $400

Spaces: 18 – Per age group/first come first serve

Men’s Basketball:

Age: U15 & U17

Days: Tuesday and Thursday

Time: 5:30 to 6:30 & 6:30 to 8:00 – will include a high-performance training session every 2 weeks

Cost: $400

Spaces: 18 – Per age group/first come first serve
