PICTURE BUTTE, AB – St. Catherine School in Picture Butte is going online.

The Holy Spirit Catholic School Division has confirmed two new cases of COVID-19 at the school. Due to its small size and the number of teachers required to quarantine, grades 6-9 will be moving to online learning until March 30.

All close contacts of the cases have been notified and are required to isolate. The division could not report if the patients are staff members and/or students.

As of Thursday night (March 18), the division has 15 active cases.

Three of those are at St. Catherine School, with two at Catholic Central High School in Lethbridge.

There is one infection at Our Lady of the Assumption School in Lethbridge, five at St. Francis Junior High School in Lethbridge and four at Lethbridge’s St. Teresa of Calcutta School.

These cases have resulted in the isolation of about 490 staff and students.

St. Francis Junior High School has been under an online learning model all of this week due to COVID-19.
