Boulet was one of the victims in the Humboldt Broncos bus crash, which took the lives of 16 people and injured 13 on April 6, 2018. Tuesday marked the three-year anniversary of the tragedy.

Upon Boulet’s passing, his organs were donated, which in turn helps save the lives of six people. This resulted in a surge of organ donation sign-up across Canada, something that came to be known as the “Logan Boulet Effect”.

In 2018, in the weeks following the crash, it’s estimated that almost 150,000 Canadians registered as organ donors.

Green Shirt Day not only recognizes Boulet’s impact on society, but it helps raise awareness on the importance of organ donation.

Citizens are encouraged to wear green throughout the day to remember and recognize the Humboldt Broncos tragedy, the Logan Boulet Effect and to honour the lives of all the victims and those affected by the crash.
