LETHBRIDGE, AB – Non-profits and community groups in the city can still apply for financial assistance until the end of this month.

Applications for the Community Event Support Grant and Community Capital Project Grant are due on April 30, 2021.

COMMUNITY EVENT SUPPORT GRANT

Due to COVID-19 restrictions still in place in Alberta, this grant is allowing submissions for virtual events.

The City of Lethbridge, however, is still encouraging organizers to apply even if they are planning an in-person event. The grant covers activities like sport competitions, community festivals and conferences.

COMMUNITY CAPITAL PROJECT GRANT

This grant is available to use for renovations or capital equipment for non-profits who offer recreational, sport, cultural, or social services for the community.

It is designed to assist with smaller capital projects.

Recreation and Culture Development Manager, Lori Harasem said the city has, “had community organizations reach out to us saying they want to continue supporting new events or activities that will enhance the community, particularly after the tough year we’ve all had.”

“We want to encourage resourceful and creative solutions during these changing times and we’ll work with groups to ensure they have the flexibility they need to create meaningful virtual or in-person experiences.”
