Millions in federal and provincial funding for upgrades to senior housing across Alberta
CALGARY, AB. — The Alberta and federal governments are investing $31.9 Million for much-needed repairs and upgrades to seniors and family housing across the province.
The capital maintenance and renewal projects have been approved through the COVID-19 Resilience Infrastructure Stream Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP). The federal government is investing the bulk of the funds at $25.6 million with Alberta providing slightly more than $6.3 million.
The financing will cover 362 projects in 95 communities, to improve everything from a facilities’ ventilation, air conditioning and heating systems, and upgrading security and fire systems, to updating nurse call systems, and roof replacements.
While the renovations will improve living conditions in a multitude of facilities, Minister of Infrastructure, Prasad Panda, notes that there will be other benefits as well.
