3 Avenue South reconstruction moves to next phase

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The 3 Avenue South Reconstruction Project is entering a new stage.

This week, crews have begun work between 4 Street and 5 Street in downtown Lethbridge. There is a partial closure on 4 Street, with a turnaround set up. Businesses in the area have received additional notices about the work. North-south traffic on 4 Street remains open at this stage of the project.

Work is continuing on 3 Avenue South between 7 Street and 8 Street, with paving anticipated for early next week and re-opening to vehicle traffic within the next two weeks.

Some final paving on 3 Avenue between 6 Street and 7 Street will also occur next week. That work will not require a full closure; therefore 3 Avenue will stay open with limited and rotating lanes. Parking will still be available.

The project’s completion date is set for some time in the fall. An art installation on the construction fencing is underway, which the City of Lethbridge says will “give people something to come and take a look at during 3 Avenue construction”.
