Updated guidelines on what vaccinated Canadians can do

OTTAWA, ONT – The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) has released new guidelines on what Canadians can do once they have been vaccinated.

A graphic shows several scenarios and what advice they would have, depending on if you are not vaccinated, partially vaccinated, or fully vaccinated.

In situations where a person has been fully immunized at least two weeks prior, the PHAC says masks and physical distancing are not required in most indoor and outdoor social gathering settings.

In other instances, such as crowded concerts and sporting events, masks and distancing are still recommended.

For those who are not fully vaccinated, masks and distancing are required for larger gatherings and recommended for some smaller get-togethers.

Across the country, 73.44 per cent of the population aged 12 or older has received at least one dose while 14.67 per cent are fully immunized.

In Alberta, those numbers are 71.1 per cent and 33 per cent respectively.

On July 1, Alberta will enter the third and final stage of the Open for Summer Plan, meaning nearly all restrictions, including the provincial mask mandate, will be lifted.

Isolation requirements will still be in place for anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 and masks will be needed in some settings like in care homes and public transportation.
