LPS search for second person in gunshot investigation

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Police Services are searching for Nicholas Rodney Scout, 37, of Lethbridge, who they believe is connected to a gunshot incident on Monday.

While responding to a motor vehicle collision nearby, a Lethbridge Police officer heard what he believed to be a gunshot in the area of the 2200-block of 7 Avenue South about 3:15 pm.

A vehicle was witnessed leaving the scene westbound on 7 Avenue.

“Police learned from witnesses that a male subject had shot a round from a rifle and had left the area on foot,” the release reads.

The area was immediately blocked off to search for the subject and officers attended schools in the area to work with staff and ensure the children were safe.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Scout for assault, assault with a weapon, possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public, use of a firearm while committing an offence, and pointing a firearm.

Police ask that anyone with information of the whereabouts of Scout is asked to contact Lethbridge Police at 403-328-4444 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. The subject may be armed and the public is advised not to approach him.

“Rauiri McGinnity of Lethbridge was earlier charged with: careless use of a firearm; intentional and reckless discharge of a firearm; possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public; discharge firearm with intent to injure; and mischief. He was remanded in custody to appear in court Friday, Sept. 24, 2021,” LPS states.

No further details will be released at this time.
