COALDALE, AB. — RCMP responded around 9:20 Friday (Oct 1) morning, involving a semi-tractor and a dump truck.

Both vehicles were eastbound as the dump truck merged onto Highway 3 at Range Road 195. The dump truck was travelling at a slower speed and the semi-truck wasn’t able to avoid striking the dump truck.

The lone occupant of the semi-tractor, a 39-year-old Calgary man, was taken to an area hospital by EMS with non-life threatening injuries.

A 49-year-old Coaldale man, the driver and lone occupant of the dump truck, was not physically injured. He was issued a violation ticket for failing to merge safely under the Traffic Safety Act and also for a violation under the Commercial Vehicle Safety Regulation.
