Lethbridge Bulls announce 2021 team award winners

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The 2021 season has come and gone and Lethbridge Bulls are honouring just a few of their best players.

“We would like to say congratulations to our entire team and the dedication they have had throughout the season,” reads a media release from the club. “We could not have had such [an] amazing year without every player, staff members, and volunteer, we thank each and every one of you for your support and dedication to an amazing season.”

The Bulls finished the year third in the Canadian league with 19 wins, 21 losses, and a record of 4-6 in their last 10 games.

The 2021 team award winners are as follows:

Rookie of the Year: Carlin Dick

  • Earned MVP honours and team captain at Vauxhall Academy
  • In 44 games over three seasons, Dick batted .340 with eight doubles, three triples, and 37 RBI
  • “It was a unique season, tough playing teams so many times but in the end winning the championship with a great group of guys makes it very special.”

Community Player: Ty Penner

  • In 121 games in over three seasons, Penner batted .347 with 27 doubles and 66 RBI
  • “I’m honored to receive the ‘Community Player Award’. It means a lot to me to be able to play for my hometown team, and I feel very to represent the Bulls and the entire Lethbridge baseball community wherever I go. I have received so much help and support from so many great people within the Lethbridge baseball community, and I would not be where I am today without their help.”

Top Hitter: Noah Or

  • From Richmond, B.C., also played for the University of Jamestown
  • In 93 games over four seasons, Or batted .428 with 24 doubles, one triple, and 58 RBI
  • “I was welcomed with open arms by everyone and that made this a great summer.”

Top Pitcher: Flynn Ridley

  • From Burnaby, B.C.
  • In over two seasons, Ridley recorded 3.03 ERA, 4.27 RA9, 26 GP, and 72 strikeouts with 291 batters faced
  • “We came together as a team, and we were a close bunch of guys and that showed on the field.”

MVPs: Mike Fitzsimmons and Noah Or

  • In 99 games with over three seasons, Fitzsimmons batted .355 with 21 doubles, three triples, and 52 RBI
  • “Playing for the Lethbridge Bulls at Spitz Stadium was unreal and helped me develop into a better player and leadoff hitter,” says Fitzsimmons
