Province providing funding to protect places of worship
EDMONTON, AB – The Alberta Government is doubling its funding to protect places of worship.
Funding for the Alberta Security Infrastructure Program has increased from $2 million to $5 million annually.
The province says this funding will go to support places of worship, not-for-profit agencies, registered charities, and “other organizations or identified groups at risk of being targeted by hate crimes or incidents,” the release states.
Premier Jason Kenney wants Albertan places of worship to be cared for and protected through the funding.
