Lethbridge man charged in sexual assault and exploitation of 15-year-old girl

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) has apprehended a man in connection to alleged sex-related offences involving a teenage girl.

On April 28, 2022, a 16-year-old girl reported to police that an adult man had sexually assaulted her.

According to an investigation by the LPS Criminal Investigation Section, the girl, who was 15 at the time, was drugged and sexually assaulted on multiple occasions over the course of several months in 2021.

Officers seized electronic devices from the suspect’s home that reportedly contained images of child pornography.

The 43-year-old Lethbridge man is charged with sexual assault, sexual exploitation, assault, uttering threats, possession of child pornography, and causing a child to be drug endangered.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on May 31, 2022, for a bail hearing.

LPS officers believe that the man may have been in contact with other underage girls. Anyone who may have been victimized is asked to call LPS Sergeant Saska Vanhala at 403-330-5049 or Constable Dave Warner at 403-330-5183.
