187 minutes: Jan. 6 committee focuses on Trump himself in prime-time hearing finale
WASHINGTON — Tonight’s prime-time finale by the Jan. 6 committee will be focused on Donald Trump himself and what he was doing — or not doing — while violence raged on Capitol Hill.
The committee’s eighth hearing, the second to take place during prime viewing hours, is expected to include two Trump administration officials who quit in the aftermath.
Deputy national security adviser Matthew Pottinger and White House deputy press secretary Sarah Matthews were among several staffers who resigned in disgust on the day of the riots.
Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger, one of two anti-Trump Republicans on the committee, tweeted an excerpt today from video testimony slated to air tonight.
